“There is still some uncertainty about rates paid on installations fitted between 12/12/2011 and 3/3/2012
because it is not yet clear whether the Government will appeal. However, the minimum tariff that people
installing in this period will get is 21p, and if Government decides not to appeal (or if it eventually loses its appeals) then they would get the 43.3p rate*. There is speculation that Government will appeal to prolong the uncertainty in the hope it will put some consumers off – but no doubt DECC will be setting that against the political damage done to them by yet another defeat and the image of a Government refusing to accept it has got it wrong and working to make amends.” (Our Solar Future)

The Feed in Tarrif is the name for the UK government scheme where homeowners, business and organisations such as schools and community groups receive money for electricity they generate through small-scale renewable energy installations e.g. solar panels.

The rate of the Feed in Tarrif paid for installing solar panels will be cut from 43.3p per kilowatt hour of solar electricity to just 21p per kilowatt hour after 12th December 2011.

Those whose solar PV installations are installed before the cut-off date of 12th December 2011 will get the current higher rate of 43.3p per kilowatt hours .

Installations completed between the 12th December 2011 and 1st April 2012 will receive the higher rate until the 1st April 2012, which will then drop to the new lower rate of 21p per kilowatt hour.

Installations completed after the 1st April 2012 will just get the lower rate of 21p per kilowatt hour.

I have used Simon for a number of electrical jobs, including the complete re-wiring of our cob house.

This is a house which was probably built in the 14th. Centaury and remodelled in the 16th. A house such as that is certainly no easy job to rewire, and it took a fair while to do it. However Simon was in the first place a pleasure to have around the house during that time. He certainly did a very good job, along with having to cope not only with the difficulties of such a building but also with two families living in the house whilst the rewiring was going on.

His work is very through, and well done, and I would recommend him to any one

“We are delighted with our PV panels and are proud to be contributing positively to the UK’s energy production, as well as earning a decent return on investment.

The system was installed by SOL electrical, who we knew from 2009, when they rewired our house. SOL offered an all round ‘Solar’ service from an initial site survey, cost estimate, installation through to registration and as we were pleased with the high standard of work in our house, we went ahead with an order of a 3.1 Kw system. Communication and trust were fundamental in selecting the right installer as the terminology of PV technology was new to us and things needed explaining at the most basic level, Simon was very patient!.

After care service is a priority for us going forward and we are confident SOL will be quick to respond if a query arises in the future.”
